Executive Director's Notes
Welcome to Encore Stage & Studio’s production of The Wizard of Oz! Our Season of Courage would be incomplete without this classic tale. All year long, we have celebrated the courage it takes for students to put themselves in new situations, meeting challenges and working together with others to create a wonderful show. Our students shine with courage and creativity and we are proud to be part of their journeys.
We live in challenging times that demand courage. I deeply believe that by participating in Encore our students are strengthening their empathy, deepening their compassion and engaging their intellect; essential traits that will serve them well into adulthood.
Courage is rooted in the heart. Encore students have tremendous heart, for each other and for their community. I hope that you will consider sharing your hearts
with a gift to Encore today. Ticket sales cover about 30% of the costs of our mainstage season. Your gift will ensure that all youth have access to the arts–Encore doesn’t charge audition or participation fees (which is unique among children’s theatre programs!) Help us continue that commitment so that all young people have the opportunity to be part of Encore. Your gift will also help us keep tickets affordable for families and all patrons that love the arts.
Thank you for joining us at the theatre today. We hope that you are inspired by the story and the children and youth on stage, backstage, and in the front of house!
Sincerely,
Sara Strehle Duke

A Fairytale Christmas Carol
December 2 - 11, 2022
By Flip Kobler and Cindy Marcus
Gunston Arts Center – Theatre Two
In this remake of a Christmas classic, your favorite fairy tale characters bring to life the story of Ebeneezer Scrooge’s magical Christmas Eve. Mother Goose lends her talents to narrate the story as the Big Bad Wolf takes on the humbugging lead role. Cinderella, the Three Little Pigs, Old King Cole, and many more help create a new twist on the traditional Dickensian story told every December.
