Theatre Classes Organized by Age — Find the Right Fit for Your Family

Theatre Classes for Early Learners
Ages 3–5
Encore's earliest class program introduces PreK students to storytelling, movement, imagination, and the basics of creative expression in a setting built for their attention span and energy level. No experience required — just curiosity and a willingness to play.

After-School Theatre Programs
Encore's after-school programs bring theatre instruction into the school day schedule for students in Arlington and Washington, DC. Designed for families who want consistent weekly programming during the school year without adding a weekend commitment.

Private Lessons
Acting and Voice
One-on-one instruction with working theatre and music professionals, available in acting and voice. Flexible scheduling coordinated directly between your family and the teaching artist. Available alongside group classes or as a standalone path.
60 years of theatre
Theatre classes at Encore are organized by age group so parents do not have to guess at the right fit. Each program is designed around the developmental stage of the students in it — what a 4-year-old needs from a theatre class is not what a 10-year-old needs, and the curriculum reflects that. Teaching artists are working theatre professionals who know how to run a room, hold a child's attention, and build something real in the time they have together.
Need-based scholarships are available for all class programs.
A Path From First Class to Full Theatre Production
One of the questions parents ask most often is whether classes lead somewhere. At Encore, the answer is yes — and the path is visible from the beginning!
Students who start in Early Learners move into It's Elementary when they are ready. It's Elementary students progress into Scenes for Tweens. Students who develop through the class program become eligible for Encore's production season — the school-year productions where students ages 9 through 18 perform, run technical operations, and manage front-of-house without any cost to their families.
This is not a ladder that requires ambition to climb. Many students take a class for a session and that is the right amount. Others stay for years and end up on stage, behind the lights, or running the front of house. Both outcomes are the point.
Weekend and Weekday Classes That Fit Your Schedule
Encore offers both weekend and weekday class options across its Arlington location, structured in session-based formats aligned with the school year calendar. Parents are not committing to an open-ended recurring enrollment — classes run in defined sessions so families can plan around them.
