At the end of this week is opening night for Student Directed One-Acts, so today we’ve got another Meet the Director post for you! Abigail H has been around Encore since 2021, and it’s so exciting to have her in this student director role for 10 Ways to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse.

Encore: Why did you choose to be a director?
I’ve been involved with Encore for so long, and when this opportunity came up I was really excited to be on the other side of the creative process working on a show.
Encore: Why did you choose the play you’re directing?
I’ve done some shows from the playwright (Don Zolidis) in the past, and they’ve always been so fun, and I really wanted a chance to bring that to my actors.
Encore: What has been your favorite part of the process so far?
Getting to know and rehearse with my amazing cast!
Encore: Who is a director who inspires you, and why?
My theatre teacher, Danny Issa, has always managed to create such a welcoming, caring, and explorative space while working on shows, and I’ve really tried to replicate throughout this process.
Encore: What are your favorite parts of theatre?
Acting, and in the past year I’ve been getting more into lighting and the tech side of things, and it’s been really fun!
See you at the theatre, Abigail! Be sure to snag your tickets to see Abigail’s hard work on April 25 & 26!
