Encore Stage & Studio is seeking Teaching Artists for summer 2026. Encore’s summer camp programs provide enrichment for children ages 3 to 15 and focus on a variety of theatre disciplines in a safe, wholesome environment.  We are seeking energetic, imaginative, and organized individuals with a passion for working with children. Applicants with specific skills and/or certifications in dance, movement, musical theatre, directing, and stage combat are particularly encouraged to apply. 

Teaching Artist Responsibilities:

• Independent teaching and being on the teaching team for our camp programs
• Bring creativity, professionalism, and positive energy to camp each day
• Lead extended day morning and afternoon programming as assigned.  
• Designing age-appropriate lesson plans and activities. Organize and lead rehearsals, games, arts and crafts, and other activities designed to help students learn, expend energy, and work in groups.
• Work closely with on-site camp coordinators to plan activities and ensure a successful camp experience for all students.
• Ensure a successful final sharing/performance. 
• Support interns, counselors and counselors-in-training in fulfillment of their duties and be a role model for students and staff.

• Creativity and flexibility, coupled with strong classroom management abilities
• A team player with good time management and follow-up skills, a demonstrated ability to take initiative, and handle multiple projects concurrently.

What to Expect:

• Encore Stage & Studio summer camps run 11 weeks from mid-June to the end of August 2026. Core Camp hours are typically 10 am - 4 pm Monday - Friday. Some evening work may be required for camp performances. 
• Before (8:15 am start) or aftercare (5:45 pm end) are offered for campers. 
• Complimentary tickets to Encore’s summer 2026 production of The Addams Family.
• Compensation starting at $615 per week for contracted services, plus additional fees for extended-day programming as outlined in the independent contractor agreement. Schedule may vary slightly by site and week based on enrollment and program needs.
• This is a seasonal contracted position; please indicate your current availability in your cover letter.

Location: Encore’s camps are located throughout Arlington County and City of Alexandria, Virginia. Reliable transportation between camp sites is required. Mileage reimbursement is not provided.

Encore’s Pre-K summer camp programs provide enrichment for children ages 3 to 5 and engages students through themed activities tailored especially for our youngest theater lovers: song and movement, music and rhythm, storytelling, and crafts. We are seeking energetic, imaginative, and organized individuals with a passion for working with young children. 

Teaching Artist Responsibilities:

• Independent teaching and collaboration with other teaching artists on camp programs.
• Bring creativity, professionalism, and positive energy to camp each day 
• Designing age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for preschoolers. Organize and lead rehearsals, games, arts and crafts, and other activities designed to help students learn, expend energy, and work in groups.
• Work closely with on-site camp coordinators to plan activities and ensure a successful camp experience for all students.
• Read stories from age-appropriate books and encourage students to interact through creative activities.
• Ensure a successful final sharing/performance. 
• Collaborate with interns, counselors, and counselors-in-training to support a positive and productive camp environment and model professional behavior for students.

• Compensation starting at $19 per hour for contracted services. Schedule may vary slightly by site and week based on enrollment and program needs.
• This is a seasonal contracted position; please indicate your current availability in your cover letter.

Location: Encore’s Pre-K camps are located in Arlington County, Virginia. Reliable transportation between camp sites is required. Mileage reimbursement is not provided.

Encore Stage & Studio is seeking paid Summer Education Interns for summer 2026. This internship will provide current undergraduate students and recent graduates with hands-on experience working at a summer theatre camp. 

Intern Responsibilities:

• Bring creativity, professionalism, and positive energy to camp each day
• Lead extended day morning and afternoon programming as assigned.  
• Work closely with teaching artists and on-site camp coordinators to plan activities and ensure a successful camp experience for all students.
• Take an active role in rehearsals for the final sharing/performance. 
• Support counselors and counselors-in-training in fulfillment of their duties and be a role model for students and staff. 
• Based on prior work experience, interns may serve as co-teachers, and/or lead teachers in our camp classrooms.
