Our Play in a Day and Holiday Mini-Camps are more than just fun, it’s also a chance for students to build storytelling skills that can last a lifetime! With our a la carte Spring Break Camp coming up next week, we are sharing 5 ways our Encore students learn about the art of storytelling at camp:
- Character Building Fuels Empathy!
Each camp day we introduce new characters. Students step into the shoes of characters with different backgrounds, emotions, and motivations. This deep dive helps them understand how to build relatable and meaningful stories from the inside out. - Improvisation Sharpens Quick Thinking
Through theatre games we practice improv! We encourage our students to think on their feet and trust their instincts — important for creating spontaneous narratives in any format. - We Introduce Story Structure
Our students are reminded that every story has a beginning, middle and end. In other words for our older campers, there is conflict, climax, and resolution. Understanding the story structure makes it easier for students to craft their own tales. - Collaboration Sparks Creative Growth
Our campers in Play in a Day work together to devise an original piece. Working with peers allows students to share and communicate ideas, adapt, and weave multiple voices into one cohesive story! - Performance Builds Confidence
Our students practice performing for their peers, and then in their final sharing for parents and families. Telling a story in front of an audience teaches students how to connect emotionally and deliver messages with clarity and passion.

What story will you tell? Join us next week for our Spring Break Camp!
